Resolutions Don't Work...Try Something New In 2011

For you history buffs, New Years Resolutions pre-date the birth of Christ by about 2000 years. The celebration of the new year is the oldest of all holidays, first observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago.
So it's especially meaningful in 2006 that somewhere around Baghdad, Iraq is where New Year celebrations began. There is no truth to the rumor that Dick Clark hosted the first one.
Their celebration lasted for eleven days. But it is safe to say that modern New Year's Eve festivities don't even come close.
Most Americans watch it in their pajama's on TV. Let's flip the channel and see what our options are. There's Time's Square with Regis. Oh, then there's Time's Square with Ryan and Dick. And don't forget Time's Square with that other network. Thank God and the beer companies for college football bowl games or New Year's would really be boring.
It's that time again. So what is it about New Year's Resolutions that makes people want to make a significant change in their life?
We secretly or not so secretly hope that 2006 will be better than the year we just went through.
Stop smoking, start training, lose some body fat, start eating healthier,.etc. According to a study conducted by GNC, 50% resolved to exercise more, 38% wanted to lose weight, and 55% promised to eat healthier.
From previous experience, there are very few of us who actually follow through with resolutions.
Only 20% of us actually have the perseverance and patience to stick to our new promises we make to ourselves. Most new years resolutions are the same every year, and, tend to fade away by February, if not sooner.
Here are a couple of lists of the most common resolutions people make, and continually break.

Top 10 Most Common New Year Resolutions
Lose weight
Exercise more
Save or make more money
Stop smoking
Find a better job
Become more organized
Stick to a budget
Be more patient with people
Eat better
Become a better person

Or how about this one:
1) Spend more time with family and friends
Recent polls conducted by General Nutrition Centers, Quicken, and others shows that more than 50% of Americans vow to appreciate loved ones and spend more time with family and friends this year. What about the other 50%? Don't they care?

2) Take time for fitness
Regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else known to man. Studies show that it reduces the risk of some diseases, increases longevity, helps achieve and maintain weight loss, enhances mood, lowers blood pressure, and even improves arthritis.
In short, exercise keeps you healthy and makes you look and feel better.
Sounds logical enough, yet most people will exercise for a few days to half a month, then quit. Logic alone just doesn't do the trick for sustaining your motivation.

3) Lose the Flab
At least Fifty-five percent of adults in America are overweight and the alarming rate of child obesity is outrageous! Put down the chips and cheeto's!
So it is not surprising to find that weight loss is one of the most popular New Year's resolutions. Ever notice the abundance of weight loss commercials in January. It's their biggest time of the entire year for new sign-ups.
Setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two most important factors in sticking with a weight loss program. Yet why does all this goal setting fail year after year for most people?

4) Quit Smoking.
Even if you've tried to quit before and failed, that's okay. Over-the-counter nicotine replacement products now provides easier access to proven quit-smoking aids.
On average, smokers try about four times before they quit for good.
Here's a good reason to quit smoking. Add up what you are spending on your cig's and you probably can make a car payment with the money you'll be saving. But again, will power alone does not help you carry out this resolution.

5) Enjoy Life More
Given the hectic, stress lifestyles of millions of Americans, it is no wonder that "enjoying life more" has become a popular goal. But what does that really mean?
Working less does not equate to enjoying life more. A lot of people dream of "retirement" until they retire. Then they're bored stiff and end up getting a job somewhere just to ease the boredom.
Or they discover that they're busier than ever after retirement, apparently catching up on all the running around they couldn't get done when they were working. Nice try, but that resolution just doesn't cut it either.

6) Quit Drinking
Many heavy drinkers fail to quit cold turkey but do much better when they learn to moderate their drinking. If you have decided that you want to stop drinking, there is help and support available.

7) Get Out of Debt
HELP! American's are drowning in debt. Paying unending interest on credit cards is literally slavery. But how in the world do we get out of the trap, dig our way out of the huge hole we've sunk into with a wallet or purse full of credit cards. Especially since we just maxed out our limit on X Box 360 and other Christmas "must have's."
Maybe our real resolution should be to just say NO to more and more "stuff."
Was money a big source of stress in your life last year?
What's the answer? Where do you begin? Read on.

8) Learn Something New
Have you vowed to make this year the year to learn something new? Excellent choice.
Maybe you're considering a career change, want to learn a new language, or just how to use your computer or selling on E-bay.
Whether you take a psychology course or read a book, you'll find education to be one of the easiest, most motivating New Year's resolutions to keep. Challenge your mind in the coming year.
Take the 30 Day Mental Fast to prepare your mind for this one. Get it free below.

9) Help Others
Many people have experienced a new surge of personal energy and excitement by spending a few days or weeks with the American Red Cross or Habitat For Humanity, for example.
Whether you choose to spend time delivering relief supplies, or building a house, these nonprofit volunteer organizations could really use your help, especially since Hurricane Katrina.

10) Get Organized
Whether you want your home straightened out enough that you can invite someone over, or your office organized enough that you can find the paper clips, begin small so it doesn't interfere with resolution #5.
Resolutions do not involve luck to be effective.

Traditional New Year foods are thought to bring luck. The Dutch believe that eating donuts on New Year's Day will bring good fortune. Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts heartily agree.
Many parts of the U.S. celebrate the new year by eating black-eyed peas. These are typically eaten with either hog jowls or ham. Black-eyed peas have been considered good luck in many cultures.
So since New Years resolutions and luck don't bring permanent success, what does? Your change must come from within. What you believe about who you are will determine your success or failure every time. When you change your mind, you can change your future.

Let's face it the more restrictive we are on ourselves the more we fail to deliver. The best way to create a "NEW YOU" is simply to try something new each month. Are you ready to try something new? Join Pampering4life: Try Something New In 2011 Challenge and leave the resolutions behind. Each month discover a new adventure by making small changes which will generate big results and before you know it. You will be trending on a new year, new you. 5 Easy Steps To Looking Younger

Here are 5 simple things you can do to make you not only feel younger and more energized but you'll keep yourself looking great too! 1. Maintain a balanced diet. Nothing makes me feel worse than eating unhealthy. Stay away from fast food joints like McDonalds. If you've ever watched the documentary "Supersize Me" you'll know exactly what kind of affect this junk food has on your energy level, not to mention how crappy it's going to make you feel after you eat it. Keep a good diet and you'll feel great inside and out. Think about a Vitamin E supplement - this is the hair, skin, and nail vitamin. 2. Exercise just 15 minutes a day. Keeping your body physically fit is proven to not only make you look a lot better but you'll live longer too. For a lot of people, aging means less activity and more sitting around. Don't let this happen to you! The more you age the more activity you should be injecting into your life. Exercise is the perfect way to do just that. You don't have to exercise for a long time, a brisk 15 minute walk every day should be enough to keep you feeling fresh and energized every day. A big problem I used to have with exercise is it was hard for me to stay motivated. One of the ways I got around that was I got an exercise buddy to exercise with. You probably know at least one person in your life that exercises on at least a weekly basis. Ask them if you can partner with them so you can keep each other motivated. This won't work with someone who isn't already exercising, they will most likely just keep you from exercising yourself when they're having a bad day (tried that, didn't work!). 3. Think about teeth whitening. Especially if you're a coffee drinker or you enjoy red wine or tea from time to time. These kinds of drinks can really yellow your teeth slowly but surely over time. Luckily this problem is easily solved. Ask your dentist if you really want to get some professional teeth whitening or consider an over the counter product like Crest Whitestrips. 4. Get a good night's sleep. Getting a bad night's sleep can do plenty of damage to your youthful look. You wake up groggy, your eyes puff up, and your face sags like saddle bags. Always be sure to get a good night's sleep at night by allowing yourself enough time to sleep. 8 hours is the perfect amount of time, anything less and you're cutting yourself short. 5. Keep out of the sun or when you have to get in the sun use a quality sun screen. The sun is known to damage the skin pretty much more than anything. It's the prime cause to premature aging and wrinkles. Consider it your greatest enemy! When you have to go out in the sun (like taking your family to the beach) invest in a quality sunscreen with plenty of SPF protection. Use it generously around your face and body.

10 Steps To Improve Your Financial Situation

Here are ten steps you can follow to help improve your personal financial situation and inevitably save more money:

1. Pay Yourself Weekly
This may seem a bit odd, but this is an excellent way to start building a substantial savings. On a weekly basis, pay yourself $25-$50 and immediately put it in a safe place. You can even open a special savings account where this weekly "payday" can by placed to help minimize or eliminate impulsive spending. Think about it this way, if you paid yourself $25 a week, in two years you'll have accumulated $2600 (not including interest)!!! That's almost $3000 from just putting $25 aside every week! Take advantage of this money-saving opportunity. Simple, yet very effective.

2. Don't Shop
For those of you that love to shop, you may find that this is one tip that could save you hundreds, maybe even thousands every year. Start using the "Need or Want" strategy. Before you spend a single dollar on anything, ask yourself, "Do I really NEED this item, or do I just WANT it??" You may find that many of the items we purchase, we do so just because it "caught our eye" or it was "an impulse buy" or "my friend bought the same thing". All these excuses just add up to wasteful spending. You can probably get by without another sweater, or a new pair of jeans, so just buy what you absolutely need, and pass on those items that aren't necessities.

3. Use Your Bank's Own ATMs
Some banks will charge you money for using other ATM machines. Even though you will be able to withdraw money using your ATM/debit card from literally any machine, banks will charge you $2 (generally) for using a machine other than theirs, in addition to a standard $1.50 charge the machine charges for its use. In other words, if you use the ATM at your local 7-11 to take out $20, you'll most likely end up paying $3.50 in additional charges! If you do that 5 times a month, you'll lose $17.50 for that month, or $210 per year! What a waste! Try and stick with your own bank's ATMs whenever possible.

4. Track Your Spending
Take the time to track your spending habits for one week. Take note of every single dollar you spend, even those sodas and candy bars purchased here and there. This will give you a "birds-eye" view of exactly where your money is being spent, thus allowing you to refine your spending habits to essentially save more money.

5. Lower Credit Card Balances
Another very important tip that many often overlook. Pay off those pesky credit cards as soon as possible because you are losing up to 19% of the total. What a waste of your hard earned money! Keep chopping away at the balances until you get to an amount that is reasonable $100-$500 dollars.

6. Use Your Debit Card Instead of Credit Cards
Get in the habit of using your debit card instead of your credit cards. For the most part, debit cards are accepted anywhere a credit card is accepted, however as you know, with a debit card the amount is taken directly from your checking account whereas credit card usage is billed at a later date (along with a hefty interest rate).

7. Changing Jobs? Roll-Over that 401(k)
When people change jobs/careers they will be faced with a decision to either "rollover" their 401k (retirement plan) or to withdraw it. It will be ever so tempting to withdraw the money since it will be a substantial amount, but don't! You will be charged fines and penalties for an early withdrawal that will cut YOUR total by 40%-60%! That's like giving half of your earned retirement savings away to a stranger. Why would you do that? Even though you may want the money now, resist the temptation and roll it over. It will be well worth it in the long run.

8. Avoid Getting Too Many Credit Cards
Why have eight credit cards? That's just going to provide you with more opportunities to go further into debt. It's fine to keep 1-3 cards to build credit, establish yourself, and for emergencies, but credit cards are double-edged swords. They can help or hurt you depending on your self-control.

9. Check Your Credit Score/Report
It's important to know where you currently stand as a consumer and since your credit report is the most important historical list of your financial past and present, it's a very good idea to check it from time to time. There are a number of places where you can get your credit report, however the most detailed compares information from the top three national credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Once you get your report, look through it carefully to see if all the information is accurate. If there are any discrepancies, get those solved as quickly as possible to improve your credit rating - a score of up to 800. Often times, consumers are unaware of unsettled accounts, or accounts that are still open/active when they should be closed. Pay close attention to this when inspecting your report.

10. Finally: Review - Revise - Retry
Once you start implementing these tips and become more familiar with the money saving opportunities you have, take the time to REVIEW your progress. Check and see where it may be possible to REVISE some of your techniques or where you can implement new ones. Once you have revised your plan, RETRY to see if your results improve. The more frequent you review, revise, and retry your saving ideas, the more "in tune" you'll be with your finances and spending habits, and learn what works and what doesn't for you.

The Importance To Detox Our Body

In an environment like we have now, whatever we do, we are absorbing an increasing amount of dangerous toxins each day. Then, it will come to some point in our life that we all become addicted and require a detoxification of our bodies like drinking fluids as a basic start. We are already informed that this problem is constantly getting worse in a span of time and nothing has to let it happen in the days to come. Nobody knows how this thing happens. What we have to do at this moment is how to act on this problem. Now, it is the right time for our administration who must be giving solutions regarding this crisis which is to act and accomplish something else in order to enhance the quality of our daily living and our health as well.

Persistent Poisons

At first, we have to understand accurately how these toxic substances which are spreading through our environment are gong to influence our state of mind, various organs in our body and our different senses. Frequently, persons could be affected, at times it is hazardous and some were deadly, and the indications vary from one person to another. Sometimes when symptoms are visible to a person and to another person it is not.

Poison Is Not Just a Physical Thing

Reflect on this. Nearly every one of us believes that being poisoned is merely a physical thing. Unluckily, for those who do not know anything about this, it is not always this case. Nowadays, we have to bear continuous adverts that always inform us that our efforts are still lacking. This is being aggravated when we see very pretty women and very good looking guys which only strengthen our belief that we not really good enough. There will be feeling of depression and feeling of insufficiency that will begin to occupy our lives and our normal state of mind. And before we realize it, is that we are already having some depression, anxiety, irritation, nervous tension, and a massive amount of other psychiatric problems that could destroy relationships with other people and our own families as well.

It Is the Truth That Food Is a Piece of Junk!

At the present, we have to think about things inside our body. There is a saying that our body is a temple and the rest is really right. This means that what we take inside our body has a direct effect on our health at the present and most especially on our health in the future. Majority of knowledgeable people such as physicians and scientists, approved that nearly all of foods nowadays could be classified and identified as a junk. Very seldom those fibers, vitamins and other good stuffs are mostly edible. Most people who are too busy like accountants and computer workers eat fast and mostly they eat junk food with oily and salty content and some were derived from rotten materials. This junk or garbage foods creating our organs function very hard due to the fact that there will no assistance to accomplish their job. It is like adding water and not an oil in the car. It will function for a short period of time but the machine is not that well-organized and is not acquiring the proper maintenance and lubrication needed. Thus, they have to seek for a mechanic or somebody who is skilled in that field like a doctor for his patients. Provided that we have to recognize that there is something incorrect before the engine got worse.

The atmosphere we have now is so contaminated with toxins that our lungs has difficulty handling the toxin and chemical substances present in the air. That is why people sometimes suffer from cough and shortness of breath.

Enduringly in Danger

Food stuffs that have been derived from farms treated with pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides and other chemicals that have the possibility to initiate dangerous chemical toxins into our system. The other organs inside of our body such as the kidneys, liver and blood need to function eventually in order for the excretion of risky amount of those chemicals or pollutants from our body. Aside from that, the nutrients we acquire from the foods we eat will decrease its value and resulting in the weakening of the internal organs and not be able to function well. Red meat especially is another example of food stuff that will take a long time to break down and digested by the body. The liver then has to increase its function in order to break down the meat into a suitable level of digestion. The factory-processed foods and products from fast food chains even hold a large amount of food coloring agents, fat and other chemical that are beneficial to a better health.

Drinking Coffee Can Be Harmful...Try Healthy Coffee

Drinking coffee daily can have many side effects that are not reported to the consumers. After careful research, I was surprise to learn just how negative drinking coffee can be on your health. Below I have shared with you some of the effects to drinking coffee daily.

Most people love to drink coffee for some false and mythical beliefs. They drink too much of it without actually realizing some of its negative effects. This article offers three disadvantages of drinking coffee:

  1. It is highly addictive - Coffee can be very much addictive. There are lots of cases already reported through some reliable researches that drinking coffee can cause addiction. Like any other drugs, it can also be addictive. The effects of caffeine can cause a chemical addiction to the brain. When you abstain from drinking coffee, it can result to withdrawal symptoms. In other words, the more caffeine a person consumes, the more severe withdrawal symptoms a person experiences. The addiction may be of various types. It can even cause serious and severe conditions such as depression and other mental problems.
  2. It causes sleep pattern disturbance - Drinking coffee routinely can possibly cause sleep pattern disturbance. This is because coffee is a stimulant. It contains stimulating chemicals that will keep you awake for longer hours. It can actually shorten the amount of sleep for any person who is taking coffee. It can also disrupt the quality of sleep each night. It can cause insomnia, tremors, restlessness and other symptoms. Since it contains addictive chemicals, it will continuously disrupt a person's sleeping pattern.
  3. It causes stress and anxiety - Drinking coffee can actually cause stress and anxiety. It can even cause severe mood disturbances such as depression and irritability. These conditions are being aggravated by the unceasing caffeine consumption. It actually decreases blood flow, thus decreasing the amount of oxygen going to one of the most vital organs of the body, which is the brain. It can cause poor memory and negative mental performance. It can also make a person feel so stressed leading to high blood pressure for most people.
Great News! You can now enjoy your coffee daily without the harsh side effects and enjoy the added benefits. Try drinking healthy coffee! Relaxation Tips To Relieve Stress

7 Relaxation Tips That Relieve Stress

Using any relaxation tips you may have picked up over the years is a great way to deal with the stresses in your daily life.

Sometimes, when you're feeling stressed out, having someone tell you to relax or "chill out" is more annoying than anything else. But it's advice you should take to heart, especially if you are having a bad day - or week.

Here are 7 tips that will help you relax when you're feeling stressed.

  1. Take a Warm Bath

Soaking in a tub full of warm water can work wonders when you're feeling stressed. The warm water relaxes you physically, loosening tight, stiff muscles. And, as a result, you relax mentally as well.
  2. Read a Good Book

One of the best ways to deal with a stressful situation, especially if the stress is caused by something you have no control over, is to not think about it. And one of the easiest ways to get your mind off things that are bothering you is to read a good book.

You can read the latest best seller that you've been looking forward to. Or, if you don't think you will be able to concentrate on anything new, choose an old favorite that you're already familiar with.
  3. Listen to Some Music

It's a proven fact that soothing music can be relaxing. The type of music you choose is entirely up to you. Buy a CD or cassette featuring soft, modern ballads, gentle classics, smooth jazz, or New Age music. When you feel stressed, pop the music into the player and let the music carry you away.
  4. Take a Deep Breath

Something as simple as taking a couple of deep breaths can work wonders. So, the next time you feel stressed, take a few slow, deep breaths. And, if you can, add a full body stretch. Stretching and yawning are also relaxing.
  5. Try Aromatherapy

Certain scents have been found to have a calming, relaxing effect on the human body. One of those scents is lavender.

You can buy lavender candles at a health food store or online, and place them around your home or office. Whenever you're feeling stressed, burning a lavender candle can help you relax.

Just make sure your lavender candles are made with essential oils.
  6. Try Visualization

The things you visualize or imagine can actually have an effect on your mood.

The next time you are feeling stressed, take a moment to close your eyes and imagine that you are somewhere more relaxing, like on a beach. Imagine that you can feel the cool breeze against your skin, and hear the ocean waves.

If you're stressed about a situation, like giving a speech in front of a large crowd, close your eyes and visualize yourself giving the speech, and everything going perfectly.

Visualization can help you feel calmer, and better able to deal with whatever has you feeling stressed in the first place.
  7. Spend Time Outdoors

Sunlight and fresh air have remarkable abilities to heal our spirit. Often something just as simple as taking a short walk around the block can help reset our priorities. Even yard work can be relaxing if approached from the right frame of mind.

Travel and Enjoy Your LIfe

By Cessy Meacham - Jan 9, 2009 7:31:20 PM

The traffic's crawling and your kids are calling. Work is a chore but it's necessary to maintain your lifestyle and to pay for the hobbies you no longer have time for.

Friends want to hang out, but you've exhausted every bar, restaurant and shopping destination in town. Besides, why waste money on something you've done a thousand times before?

If this sounds like you, then you desperately need a vacation! Throw caution to the wind and stop worrying about waiting until you have enough money to throw away. The health benefits of travel are as extensive as the world itself. A vacation can give you a much-needed break from the stresses of your life and rejuvenate your spirit. Plus, it will save valuable money in the long run by preventing doctor bills, sick days and the buildup of stress that can hijack your life.

Traveling is an important part of life and necessary to survival.

Taking a break from the daily routine relieves stress simply by providing a change of scenery. The excitement of getting ready for a trip can be a euphoric experience and the anticipation will take your mind off daily petty problems that often seem larger than life. Getting away from your daily experience helps to put your life in crystal clear terms and allows you to redefine what you find important.

The stress relief benefits of traveling are amazing.

Getting out of the grind gives you the ability to rest and relax because you're miles away, free from your responsibilities. As women, we often overextend ourselves to take care of everyone's needs before our own. You may not realize it, but work, family and your daily routine can zap most of your energy and can require all of your attention. Getting away gives you the chance to listen to your inner voice and to simply do what you want to do. Traveling frees the mind and puts the body at rest.

Traveling gets the blood flowing because it requires you to be active.

Regardless of if you are laying on the beach, swimming in the ocean, walking the streets of a historic city or riding the subway - you will be doing something! You'll turn the television off, shut down the computer, and get outdoors. The sunlight is rejuvenating, and your desire to experience all your destination and its people have to offer will motive you to be active. An active body leads to an active mind, and both of them will get a workout on your next vacation.

A getaway also provides the opportunity to experience a different culture.

Being immersed in a new locale will put your life in perspective. You will meet different people with fresh experiences and ideas, showing you how vast the world truly is. The new setting will provide the anonymity and lack of responsibility we all need at times, ultimately freeing you to enjoy yourself. New people will also invigorate you with new energy and you'll learn the different ways that people accomplish the same goals, offering new ideas that you have never thought of before. A different social setting will be stimulating and invigorating too, and it will help you to appreciate your unique self and all you have to offer. Traveling keeps your mind and body young, fueled by new energy. An added bonus for those traveling with a companion is strengthening the bond you share together.

When you travel, the tasty new food, breathtaking new sights, and excitement of different sounds will help to create new memories.

The delectable eateries, luxurious and one-of-a-kind shopping, internationally renowned museums, ancient architecture, pristine beaches, rugged mountain tops and exotic locales will combine to create a lifetime experience that you can discuss for years to come. The euphoria, excitement, and freedom you feel when you step away from your daily living are priceless. The photos will capture the settings in time, but the even more, the memories, smells, sights and sounds will stay with you forever.

The benefits of travel are vital to your mental, physical, and spiritual health because travel is necessary to help us cope with life and get a break from all of the responsibility a hectic life places on us. You deserve to get away; you must get away! Throw caution to the wind, contact your travel agent and pack your bags. A beautiful city, exotic beach, rain forest, or snow-capped mountain awaits you. I guarantee your mind and body will thank you for it!

Living The Fabulous Life & Sailing

Health Benefits of Sailing

Being out in the sea for some time has its benefits to a person’s health.

Sailing out into the open sea allows a person to relax his mind. This is brought about by the sound of the water as it alters the wave patterns of the brain, which can help a person achieve a relaxed state. By doing so, one can rejuvenate his mind and body. Floating in the water pumps blood from the lower limbs to the abdominal region where the heart is located. This causes more blood to be pumped to different parts of the body, thus bringing more oxygen to the brain, which makes people more alert and active.

Studies show that sea air is charged with healthy ions that accelerate the body’s ability to absorb oxygen. It also helps balance the levels of serotonin, a chemical produced by the body that is associated with mood and stress. It is therefore conclusive that spending a holiday out on the sea, sailing, or cruising can make people feel more relaxed and energised.

Moreover, manoeuvring one’s boat is a physical activity that is equivalent to anaerobic exercises. Thus, it flexes and tones the muscles, as well as promotes cardiovascular health.

Acai Berry Juice Very Good For You

The juice that I will share later is the best on the market. I cannot live without it. Make sure to read the advantages of drinking Acai juice below.

There has been alot said and claimed about acai berry juice and acai products over the past year. It's Your Life Live It

Imagine....

I often talk to some of my friends about life and making changes in their life. Most of the time they look at me funny because I'm a thinker outside the box. My mind takes me on a cruise to the Caribbean or to the South of France for vacation when they are just trying to get down the street. I always wonder why they never inspire to be more and live more. I always hear excuses like "My Job" or "My Family" and the bottom line is no one can stop you from enjoying your life but YOU. Who says you cannot take your family with you to the South of France? It is okay to work hard, but make sure you do not let your job stop you from living. At the end of the day, if they are looking to budget cut your department they may look at you to either cut your hours or sadly lay you off....then WHAT? Bottom line we all need to work toward financial freedom so nothing will stop the quality of life we deserve. At the end of your life you should look up to God and say.."I have no more of my talents left because I used everything you gave me" IMAGINE if you could say that... Are you living your best life?

Not A Size 2 Ballroom Dancer

Ballroom Dancing and Me......

Since I was young I always loved to dance. I used to dance around the house for my parents and put on shows all the time. I also practiced formal dancing for a period of time as well. So, needless to say its in my blood. I started watching ballroom dancing years ago on the public television network. I was so impressed with all the glitz and dancing that I could not get my eyes off of it. Then came "Dancing With The Stars" and all I can say is.....WOW. I promised myself that once I started a better journey of health and wellness I would need to somehow check it out. My surgery came then my recovery and my promise to myself. I immediately searched for lessons to take in my area and finally found my studio. My first consultation was mainly explaining the beginners classes and it also gave them some knowledge on my reason for being there. My first reason was to get healthy, lose weight, and to socially be able to ballroom dance and boy has time changed. First, I absolutely LOVE IT and it has helped me to shed 40 pounds. The funny thing is I'm not your average dancer because I'm not the small petite size you might would see on the dance floor and I'm starting a competitive career in it in my 30's but who cares. Almost two years later I can dance just about everything in ballroom and I'm even doing competitions as well. I have proven that at any age, size, color, creed, you can become who you want to be you just have to do it. This is what Pampering4life is all about living your best life right now in whatever you choose to do...

Exercise Motivation

Keeping Motivated to Exercise

By Miranda Hitti

Question:

How can I avoid falling off my exercise routine?

Answer:

Sticking with your exercise program regularly and consistently is your best bet for overall health. While there's no specific danger in starting and stopping over and over again, it's important to set personal goals and identify what motivates you to exercise. Even if there's been a long lapse in your sessions, you should do your best to get back to regular exercise as soon as you can.

For some, it's disease prevention. If a close family member has been affected by heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, or cancer, that may be what motivates you to stay healthy and avoid the same path. Regular exercise reduces your risk of developing these and other diseases and will help you maintain a healthy body weight.

For others, living longer could be a motivator. Research has shown that exercise may extend the years of your life. It can greatly enhance your quality of living, too, by making regular day-to-day physical activities such as climbing stairs, carrying groceries, and vacuuming easier.

How you start an exercise program may greatly determine whether you stick with it. If you have started programs in the past only to quit a month later, pay careful attention to the following tips:

  • Set realistic goals. Don't try to run a marathon or lose 10 pounds in a month.
  • Begin slowly and try a number of different exercises. Limit the length of each session.
  • Use visualization daily: Picture yourself enjoying your workout and then feeling great when you've finished.
  • Schedule exercise and make it a top priority in your life. Write it down on your calendar and keep a daily exercise log.
  • Identify one exercise that you enjoy doing on most days. If you're traveling, maintain some kind of routine. Find a fitness center at the hotel, go for a swim, or take a long walk. You can also try strengthening exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, calf raises, and lunges.
  • Don't feel guilty when you miss a session or two. Negative feelings will only hinder your motivation. Getting back on track will make you feel better.
  • If boredom is hindering your routine, try doing new exercises, pick a new sport, or recruit an exercise partner. The key is finding something you like and sticking with it.
  • Distractions -- such as reading, listening to music, or watching television while you work out -- can also help keep you motivated. Try exercising at a different time of day, or break up a workout schedule to include aerobic exercise in the morning and strength training at night.

Other tips include:

  • Buying an exercise tape that you find entertaining.
  • Scheduling several sessions with a personal trainer.
  • Joining an exercise class that has a lively instructor.
Overall, it's important to not get discouraged if you miss a week or two of exercise. It's never too late to get started again. When your program gets derailed, try to figure out what went wrong and learn from your mistakes. Best of luck and keep exercising!

Creating A New Lifestyle

"Time For A Change"
It is funny how life will show you when it is time to change things. The last couple of years I had suffered several health challenges from IBS to Fibroid Tumors. I generally could not believe the lack of support from doctor's especially suffering from fibroid tumors. After going through 21 doctors with no results, I was finally able to find the right doctor on my journey to recovery. My health was compromised, even though I needed to lose the weight. The bottom line I needed HELP!! Well, I finally had the surgery which they discovered 16 large tumors. You mean it wasn't in my head? The pain I had to suffer during this time, was partially due to no one really understanding my condition. After being tired of the back and forth with the doctors. I promised myself that once I finished surgery and recovery I was going to make changes to my health. I know now looking back you cannot rely on doctors to save you but for you to save yourself. It's time for a change.....
